The most effective staff development is a well-planned, ongoing professional development program that is tied to the school's curriculum goals, designed with built-in evaluation, and sustained by adequate financial and staff support.  This is essential if teachers are to use technology appropriately to promote learning for all students in the classroom.  The files below are specifically designed to promote the research with brain-based learning and effective SMART Board integration as well as other files that I have used with teacher training.

Time Machine

Visuals that show how companies and society have changed and if that applies to your classroom. A introduction to a session on the Classroom of the 21st Century.

Brain Friendly Learning

The presentation explores two chapters of John Medina’s Brain Rules (Long Term Memory and Vision) and examples from this website of integrating that with SMART Board.

Content Creation

Resources are explored in this presentation that guides you through the introduction  of Content Creation.  After spending time with the various resources the participants start creating their own lessons

Lesson Activity Toolkit

Lots of the activities in the LAT are demonstrated so that teachers can see how to edit and add content to the various activities.  A quick way to add interactivity to your lessons.

These are the files that I use for various keynotes, conference presentations, and session content.  They do not always have presenter’s notes with them and some of the pages have images that remind me to use another lesson to explain a particular part.

Memory Subtypes

This presentation is about Brain Rule #6 in John Medina’s book Brain Rules.  Reveal techniques and links are used to show techniques in designing lessons to increase student engagement, understanding, and knowledge retention.

The New Blooms Taxonomy

A presentation on the new wording and organization of the Blooms Taxonomy.

The Math Tools in Notebook

This is NOT on the Notebook Math but rather on using the new tools in the regular version of Notebook Software.

Stages of SB Integration

This is a notebook lesson that takes the information from NCREL and puts it on Notebook.  Ideal for administrators and technology specialists to be able to identify levels and assist teachers in these levels.
